why choose us

Cactus Creek Bow Hunting Ranch is a high fence ranch offering affordable archery hog and exotic animal hunts for 20 years.  We are located in Nixon Texas about an hour away from Austin and San Antonio
Texas and about 2.5 hours away from Houston Texas.

The ranch has 8 elevated stands each set up with an auto feeder. The feeders will activate at both the morning and evening giving the hunter a great opportunity to harvest an animal. Four of the elevated stands are two man stands. These stands are fantastic for father/mother, son/daughter hunts which will
give you memories of a lifetime.  They also work excellent for videoing your buddy’s hunt or your buddy
videoing your hunt.

To assure you and your group has the best experience we can provide, we only book one hunting group on the ranch at a time.  This ensures you will not have to compromise your hunting style for others.

We have a comfortable bunk house that sleeps 13 with a full Kitchen and a full bathroom.  The town of Nixon is 5 minutes away from the ranch.  Some businesses in town include a grocery store, hardware
store, fuel station, fast food, a breakfast dinner, a BBQ restaurant and an auto parts store.  This is convenient if you need to pick up some supplies during your stay.

What to expect during your stay at
Cactus Creek

Here is what you can expect on your hunt at Cactus Creek Bow Hunting Ranch.

Unlike other ranches that have a structured schedule as far as hunting times go, here at Cactus Creek you hunt the schedule you want to hunt. But typically:
Your group will get up in the morning and have a light breakfast and coffee. You will head out to the stands and get settled 30 minutes before the feeders turn on. Practice drawing back and aiming at the target area a time or two to assure there are no draw or sight obstructions. Your shooting distance typically will be between 15 and 25 yards. It is very likely that you will see both exotics and hogs coming into shooting range. Pick a target, relax, and take your shot. After you retrieve your animal, the ranch has a 4X4 available to pick it up and bring your game back to the cabin. There is an available walk-in cooler which you can use to store your game, or you can use one of the two electric hoists to start skinning it.

Some groups like to eat lunch at the cabin, and some take the 10-minute drive and eat in town. Although challenging, in the afternoon you can walk the ranch and do some spot and stock hunting.

The evening hunts will be similar to the morning hunt.  Bring a good flashlight in case you take a shot with little remaining light to aid during the retrieval process.

Many groups will cook dinner at the cabin, have a drink and enjoy sharing hunting stories of the day around the campfire.
